Advertisements are what keep The Voice going. Your contributions help fund a magazine that goes through every door in the parish, and we're very grateful for the support.
If you're interested in advertising in The Voice, please contact test@example.com.
These guidelines apply to paid adverts and business notices only. We're not asking you to use our fonts or colours. We just need it to print cleanly, fit the page, and read well alongside the rest of the magazine.
1. Sizes
Three sizes only, so the page can be laid out predictably. All dimensions are the finished artwork size - no bleed needed, as nothing sits at the very edge of the page.
Size | Dimensions | Orientation |
|---|---|---|
Quarter page | 78 × 121mm | Portrait |
Half page | 160 × 121mm | Landscape |
Full page | 160 × 247mm | Portrait |
If your artwork doesn't match one of these exactly, we'll need to resize or crop it to fit - so it's best to design to these dimensions from the start.
2. Black and white printing
The Voice is printed in black and white. Please design (or at least check) your advert in grayscale before sending it:
Don't rely on colour alone to make something stand out or to separate two elements (e.g. red vs green text) - in print, both will be similar shades of grey.
Avoid pale colours, light greys, and fine gradients - these often disappear or turn patchy on a photocopier/press. Aim for strong contrast between text and background.
Photos and logos should still be legible once converted to grayscale - check this before submitting, not after.
Fine detail (thin lines, small serif text under about 8pt, dense patterns) can clog or vanish when printed. Keep lines and text weights reasonably bold.
3. File format
Submit as a PDF where possible (JPG or PNG accepted if a PDF isn't practical).
300dpi at the finished size above.
Sized to exactly the dimensions in section 1 - please don't send a full-page design and ask us to shrink it to a quarter page.
4. Digital edition link
The Voice is also shared as a PDF online. If you'd like, you can give us one URL to make live in the digital version only (your website, a booking page, a Facebook page, etc.) - this is optional, and we'll only ever link the one address you give us, not decorate the advert with it. Print copies obviously can't carry a working link, so make sure your advert still makes sense - phone number, address, etc. - without it.
5. Wording and content
Nothing rude, discriminatory, or knowingly misleading. The magazine is read by families and across all villages.
Adverts must comply with the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (the CAP Code), enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) - in short, ads must be legal, decent, honest and truthful. This applies to advertisers whether or not they're used to advertising elsewhere.
No content that could bring the parish or Wellsprings Group into disrepute.
Include a way to contact you - name, phone number or email. We won't publish an advert with no way to get in touch.
We reserve the right to decline or ask for changes to an advert that doesn't meet these guidelines. Accepting an advert doesn't mean the parish or Wellsprings Group endorses the business or event - this is stated in the magazine's small print.
6. Deadlines
Send your artwork to the editor by the same submission deadline as editorial content (see the notice on the back page of each issue). You're welcome to change your artwork for each new edition - just make sure the updated version reaches the editor before that issue's deadline.
Quick checklist before you send it
